Meeting between CYQAA and POFEN

The President of the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA), Professor Andreas Charalambous, the Vice-President of CYQAA, Professor Andreas Anagiotos, and Ms Veronika Kyriakidou, Member of the CYQAA Council, held a meeting with representatives of the Pancyprian Federation of Student Unions (POFEN).

The meeting was constructive and focused on a number of important issues, including affordable student accommodation, the strengthening of student welfare and the establishment of student unions across all Higher Education Institutions in Cyprus.

The support provided to students in cases of pregnancy, maternity, paternity and family responsibilities was also discussed, as was access to affordable and adequate food.

The discussions also addressed the modernisation and institutional strengthening of work placements, alongside the continuous enhancement of infrastructure, laboratory facilities and digital equipment. Further issues raised included equal access to textbooks and essential learning resources, as well as other matters of importance to students.

As part of the meeting, CYQAA and POFEN agreed to hold regular meetings to monitor progress on the various actions and initiatives.

The next meeting is scheduled to take place in December 2026.
